Motivate Through Music

Your group ex participants (whether it be virtual or in person) will show up to your class carrying with them anything that has shaped their day so far. Although you can’t influence anything that happened to them prior to class, there are things you can do to evoke certain emotions to help influence the rest of their day. One way to do this is through music.

Music can evoke emotion and feeling through tempo, rhythm, lyrics, and even the instruments used. If you are listening to your playlist that you are using for your next class, you may feel certain emotions as well. Think about how the components of the songs are making you feel. Once you identify what emotions the music triggers for you, practice cues in a way that matches that emotion. When coupled with your personality and teaching style, the experience can be very powerful for the participants!

Hope this helps!
