As we are moving through the warmer weather an increased desire to start a workout program for some of us. But what is harder for you…getting started or staying committed? This week we’ll talk about getting started and next week we’ll talk about staying committed. That’s our ultimate goal to make your health and fitness a permanent part of your lifestyle!
Here are some tips from myself and our Beachbody writing team to help you GET started on your journey:
- Start to Move More
Even if you’re not doing an exercise program yet, you can begin to make an effort to move your body more every day. Take a walk, take the stairs, park a little farther away from your destination, do some crunches during commercials, play with your kiddos outside. So many ways to incorporate just a little activity into your everyday routine.
- Drink Water
Being dehydrated is not good for your body. It can make you overly tired and lethargic. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to prep your body so you are extra hydrated when you do start a program. Recommended amount is 8-10 glasses per day.
- Throw Away Junk Food
The reason why you eat unhealthy food is because YOU buy it. Empty your desk, cupboards, fridge, freezer, car, and secret snack stash drawer of foods and drinks you know you shouldn’t be eating. If you want to reach your fitness goal, prevent temptation by removing junk food from your house. If the packaged foods are unopened, donate them. Not only are they not good for you, they can cause so much damage to your body like weight gain and disease.
- Set Up Your Workout Space
This could be as easy as moving the coffee table in your living room, or as elaborate as turning your basement into a gym. You won’t need much space to exercise, but it’s a good idea to figure out where you’ll do it and make the space usable and inviting for the workouts you’ll be doing. Also start putting your workout clothes out the night before to remind you that it’s time to exercise.
