We know how important it is to exercise right? But knowing and doing it are two different things. You can’t be in between.
You know what I’m talking about? I’m talking about the people who make an effort to go to the gym or buy a fitness program, but don’t put any effort into their exercise routine. You can’t just show up. You have to motivate yourself to work hard, even when you don’t feel like it.
They say showing up is half the battle and it IS, but in order to get results it has to be more than that. It definitely isn’t easy, but there are some ways you can prepare yourself to get the most our of your workouts:
- What you wear determines your mood. When we look better, we feel better. Let me tell ya, I have to put a lot of THOUGHT (not money!) into my daily workout attire. If I’m feeling gritty with a Boot Camp class, I might wear black. If I’m teaching a PiYo class, I’ll wear softer colors. Accessories go a long way too. A hat or wristband can make all the difference in your workouts!
- Mantra is so important. When you get to the gym (or getting ready to push play at home) you have to remind yourself WHY you started this fitness journey in the first place. Tell yourself “I am stronger, more confident, flexible” and repeat your goals to yourself over and over. Allow that mantra to bring you the energy you need to crush our workout.
- Find an accountability partner or a community. It’s so important to surround yourself with positive people who support you and lift you up. The same goes for your workouts. You want to find people to hold you accountable and who are also willing to call you out if you are not living up to your potential.
I run monthly challenge groups for people who are looking to start or continue their fitness journey and who want to be a part of a positive community. To apply for my next group, click HERE.
