Fail Forward

We are all a work in progress and always striving to get better. We have to remember that we are human and we all share the similar challenges in life. With that being said, you cannot beta yourself up if you have a failure. Instead, acknowledge it and appreciate and fail FORWARD!

Here are some ways to help you move forward after havinga setback:

  1. Find support. Whether it is an accountability partner or a group exercise class, research shows that having support will help you stay committed. It is one of the reasons why I love being a group fitness instructor! Partner up with someone who inspires you on social media or find someone who shares similar goals that you can connect with. If you need one obviously I will help you but you have to reach out! Do me a favor…..if you are a gym rat go to a class and introduce yourself to the instructor. They need to get to know you and know when you aren’t there so you can be held accountable! Many programs out there can also help w support such as online challenge groups, but you have to seek out and find the fit for you.IMG_0180
  1. Seek out the similarly motivated. Their positive energy will rub off on you and you can imitate their success strategies. Avoid negative people. They drain your energy and waste your time, so hanging with them is like shooting yourself in the foot. It’s hard to talk about this because sometimes those who are negative are the people you can’t remove from your life. But you can find plenty of positive people. Don’t be a Debbie Downer! It goes back to your attitude and your belief.
  1. Have goals-but remain flexible. We say strive for progress, not perfection!

No plan should be cast in concrete, lest it become more important than achieving the goal. Focus instead on acting with a higher purpose and figure out how you can reach an attainable goal.  Any activity or action that doesn’t serve your higher goal is wasted effort–and should be avoided.

  1. Once again if you experience a failure you have to acknowledge that it happened and take responsibility for your own results. If you blame (or credit) luck or, you’ll always have an excuse. Stretch past your limits on a daily basis. Don’t wait for perfection. Just focus on the journey.
